“It seems to me we can never give up longing and wishing while we are still alive. There are certain things we feel to be beautiful and good, and we must hunger for them.”

breakfast picnic

today began with all good things: eggs and tomatoes roasted on the charcoal barbeque, grilled cinnamon buns, iced coffee and two girls i love. we took our picnic out of the city, near a lazy river where the crickets are the loudest thing. the sun was hot on our necks. we cut up peaches and walked on acorn shells down to the water. we listened to old tapes on the car ride home. summer is fading but slowly and i am clinging to it.

my best friend has a new house and it is the most beautiful thing and already feels like it has been hers forever.

summer in the kootenays

Dance me to your beauty with a burning violin
Dance me through the panic 'til I'm gathered safely in
Lift me like an olive branch and be my homeward dove
Dance me to the end of love
- Leonard Cohen
